Donors Lift Up Eliot Again!

More and more of us are returning to camp in person! Yay! We are emerging from Covid restrictions, but we have yet to fill our camps, and consequently face another budget shortfall, though smaller than last year’s. Eliot donations during the pandemic were vital. The strong support continues this year, with campers thus far contributing over $11,600 towards our committee’s 2023 goal of $21,000, which will balance this year’s projected deficit. Amazing!

These gifts correct the budget without raising registration fees, without trimming scholarship funding, and without derailing Board strategic initiatives for equity, inclusion, environmental justice and enhanced youth programming. Thank you, annual donors!  In addition, a legacy donor has recently come forward, choosing to remember Eliot in estate plans as an IRA beneficiary.

What inspires your fellow Elioteers to contribute? Here are some campers’ voices:

We are drawn to Eliot as a Unitarian family in a small community.  Meeting UUs from all over, American and Canadian, and coming together in intentional community feeds us all.  Most importantly, we have come back year after year for our children, particularly during their youth.  The intergenerational family, the beautiful setting, the week that meets all our needs in different ways: activities, quiet time, deep discussion, worship.  –Liz Goodger

For me, the Eliot Essence is a joining together of people who share a respect for human dignity, love for the environment and cherishing the child in each of us.  –Spencer Ehrman
