Sharing our camp culture!

If you’re on staff for any of our camps, have served on staff in the past, or are serving Eliot in a leadership position and would like to share your experience, you’ll want to be sure to mark down Saturday, April 6th, 2024 for attending our second leadership retreat. It all happens online from 9:00 am - 12:30 pm PDT with two 1.5-hour sessions.

The idea came about to ensure that staff are being supported in the best way possible as they prepare for camp. The Leadership Retreat provides a venue for the free exchange of ideas between staff from all camps, and between staff and the board.

The retreat is open to all interested Elioteers, but we anticipate people in these positions would derive the most benefit: children's program director/staff, youth lead/staff, YA lead, first aid coordinator, volunteer coordinator, small group coordinator, tie dye coordinator, and potentially AV coordinators.

The first session will focus on conversations with members of your Board of Directors about their hopes for the camps, and any questions or concerns that staff and leadership have about the upcoming camps. After a 45-minute break, you'll get an opportunity to meet in small group breakout sessions organized by role or area of interest: Deans, children's staff, youth staff, and tie-dye staff.

All that's left for you to do is to mark the date on your calendar and share the invitation with anyone else you feel might benefit from attending—there's a space at the retreat for participants with all levels of experience and engagement at camp! Our hope is that the Leadership Retreat will set a solid foundation for our summer camps, connect those in parallel roles, and provide inspiration to our staff and leaders as we put together our programs.
