Finance Committee

As you can expect this has been a weird and tough year. Most of Eliot's income comes from our camps. This year, with July and August being virtual and Creative Arts on hiatus, the summer camps were still profitable but pulled in about a quarter of what we usually do. Meanwhile our non-camp expenses were slightly lower but not enough to make up the difference. Most of those non-camp expenses are made up of our donations to Seabeck and our staff costs.

So, although we budgeted to lose a small amount of money, we are losing a larger amount of money given the reality of the situation. That's okay though. We have a very generous cushion of back up funds. We will be fine getting through this year and we should be okay all of next year if things continue in the same way. Afterwards we won't be broke but I feel we'd need to start taking decisive action.

The finance committee and I will be keeping a close hand on the wheel and we'll keep you updated. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.
