August Camp Highlights

August Eliot unfolded smoothly, while we tackled our camp theme of Shaping Unitarian Universalism into a Multicultural Faith. True to the camp theme of “curiosity and exploration,” campers engaged the topic with both openness to others and well as a willingness to ask the hard questions.  This programming was enhanced by the addition of several "Curious Conversations" as well as a presentation on the Board’s commitment to Equity and Inclusion.  We also gathered input on what consent might mean at Eliot, had a special newcomer host role of “Connection Station” where anyone wanting to have a conversation could join the host at a designated spot, a new craft corner, an expanded sports coordinator role including less active options, alongside many traditional favorite activities throughout the week.  Campers were offered an opportunity to envision the Eliot they wish for, and we all said a final goodbye to Pines. We also had an opportunity to put our new restoring right relationship policy into practice, and learned a lot in that process, valuing each other and our community.  Another great August Eliot in the books!
